Lexïng Zhang is an independent curator based in Paris, working at the intersection of contemporary art, design and cultural research. For over a decade, she has curated exhibitions across Asia, Europe and the Americas, developing projects foregrounding cultural exchange, material knowledge and pluralist worldviews.

Born and raised in Xinjiang, China, at the crossroads of the ancient Silk Road, Zhang grew up immersed in overlapping languages, traditions and belief systems. Her father’s fluency in Kazakh and Uyghur, alongside his modest collection of Silk Road artefacts sourced from local bazaars, introduced her to objects as vessels of memory, ritual and survival. This environment continues to shape her curatorial thinking, grounding her practice in lived plurality over abstract theory.

Zhang holds a BA in Economics with a minor in Art History from Fudan University, Shanghai, and a Master’s degree in International Cultural Management from ESCP Paris. After working with collectors and institutions in the United States, she founded her Miami-based ART LEXING gallery presenting contemporary Chinese artists beyond Western framings. Over time, her practice expanded toward a sustained commitment to challenging reductive narratives and fostering curious dialogue across cultural, ideological and geographic divides.

Zhang’s curatorial approach resists fixed identities, treating culture as fluid, relational and shaped through movement and exchange. Recent exhibitions reflect this: To Build a Swing (2025) examined memory, belonging and future-making through Singapore’s evolving cultural landscape; Future Is a Journey to the Past (2024), a solo exhibition of Wang Xiaolin, explored transformation through traditional porcelain practice; and Nomad’s Breath (GESTE Paris, 2025) reframed nomadism as a living knowledge system rooted in reciprocity, ritual and ecological awareness.

Across her projects, Zhang prioritises work grounded in material intelligence, spiritual outlooks and human connection. Her exhibitions function as spaces of encounter, inviting artists and audiences to reconsider how we remember, belong and imagine the future.

Zhang’s notable exhibitions include “Access to China” at Miami Design District, 2013; “Ye Hongxing Prajñāpāramitā” at The Opposite House, Beijing, 2015; “Ceci n’est pas une Peinture”, Maison & Object design week in Miami, 2016; “Sphere by Elvin Nabizade” Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Paris, 2019; “Threads of Splendor” Mexico City Design Week 2019; “Scheherazade - a global design tale” at H.N.LIN Design Center Shanghai, 2020; “TENGO UN DRAGÓN DENTRO DEL CORAZÓN” solo exhibition of Carlota Guerrero at Objective Gallery, New York 2022; “Dragon is My Middle Name” collective exhibit at LOY Gallery Singapore, 2024; “Future is a Journey to the Past” solo exhibition of Wang Xiaolin at LOY Gallery Singapore, 2024
